Christoph Sommer

Role: CE Workshop Teacher, Teacher
Certified Rolfer®, Certified Rolfing® Instructor, Certified Advanced Rolfer®, Mentor, Rolf Movement™ Practitioner

Christoph Sommer is a Certified Advanced Rolfer® and teacher at the European Rolfing® Association e.V. for the modular format. He has been practicing in Munich since 1986.

Additional training in fascia- and membrane technique (Peter Schwind) and visceral osteopathy (J.-P. Barral) has led him to broadening the classic structural perspective. With a refined spectrum of touch communicating with the inner human shape his work aims at enhancing the potential for movement and human self-expression.

Before Rolfing

After finishing the Gymnasium in 1981, I was in the Windsurfing business for some years; and I studied philosophy and psychology in Trier and Hamburg for 5 semesters. In 1985 I came across a 3 – week Rolfing Pre – training held in London by Thomas Myers. I was so convinced about the method, the idea and the practical application, that I interrupted my studies to become a certified Rolfer in 1986. Building a practice in Munich and training myself as a manual therapist and in some of the psycho- emotional modalities, I have not come around to complete my formal psychology studies...yet.

Inspiration to train in Rolfing®

I have always been interested in the connecting bridge between the freedom of the human body and the freedom of psychological expression a person can live in. Rolfing seemed back then, and still does, something that bring these aspects together.

Teaching Method

As a teacher I always search and aim for the (conceptual) clarity, the intellectual understanding. But what is most essential: How can we, the practitioners, the clients, the students experience the ease and freedom as a physical experience.
